Making A Submission

Black Iron Books is an independent publisher built for writers who do not fit the mould. We are very new, deliberately small, and focused on one thing: publishing powerful dystopian and speculative fiction that challenges, disturbs, and endures.

We are not chasing trends or building volume. We are building something different.
We publish indie authors under traditional contracts only. No hybrid deals. No author payments. No shared costs. Just strong writing, clear vision, and partnership that earns its place on the shelf.

 Our focus is narrow by design. Black Iron Books publishes:

• Dystopian fiction
   
• Speculative fiction
   
• Dark contemporary stories with dystopian or near-future threads
   

For YA or adult audiences.

We want fiction that carries weight. Stories that expose systems, fracture certainties, and ask what is left when control collapses.

Preferred length: 70,000–120,000 words
Tone: Atmospheric, grounded, emotionally taut.

We value precision over flash and depth over noise.

Attach:

1. A one-page synopsis outlining plot, themes, and tone.
    
2. The first three chapters or up to 10,000 words in Word or PDF.
    
3. A short author bio explaining who you are, what you write, and why.
    
4. Optional links to your website or social profiles.
    

We read every submission. Please allow up to six weeks for a response.

 Edit hard. Proofread again. Read your opening aloud and cut anything that does not earn its place. Your first ten pages decide everything. Make them impossible to ignore.

 We look for fiction that feels real enough to unsettle. Worlds that could exist just beyond the next headline. Characters who fight systems rather than serve them.

We like:

• Taut, cinematic prose
   
• Emotional restraint
   
• Coherent world-building
   
• Themes of power, manipulation, and rebellion
   

Black Iron Books is selective by intent. Every book must align with our vision: intelligent, original, unflinching.
